Artillery Shot & Shells
Confederate Read shell shot shell. Has complete brass fuse adapter. Brass sabot was blown off when fired.
 # 1278                       $ 245
Hotchkiss round nose shell, "case shot" w/flame grove, lead sabot and brass time fuse. Manufactured at Federal arsenals this shell has 3 flame groves formed in the body so the flame from firing would pass through and ignite the nose fuse. This design has an extended nose to accomadate shot balls loaded in the upper section. A nice dug example with a somewhat deformed sabot from firing
 # 1276                                        SOLD
3" Hotchkiss nose section with flame grove and brass time fuse. The Hotchkiss was made in 3 sections. The cast iron upper section (this item) a cast iron lower section and a cast lead sabot. The impact from firing would drive the lower section up expanding the lead sabot into the rifling. Often the lower section and sabot would separate from the upper upon firing.

6 pound canister. This is reconstructed from excavated original pieces. It is very possibly CS due to the visible casting flaws.  A tough item to find it is all complete and original
